there has been a lot going on in the christensen home. first, mya has totally become enamored with weenie. any chance she can she grabs at him. he really doesn't seem to mind. when he has had enough of her pestering him he just moves. she can't get him if he moves, yet!
second, trent's parents came to visit. well and to help us put some doors in. i wondered how mya would do with them since she has been having some stranger danger problems. but she LOVED them. pretty much the only time i ever had mya was when i was feeding her. she loved having grandma and grandpa around. and of course weenie loved it too.
mya is getting so big, she is into exploring and putting everything in her mouth. the sleeping issue at night is getting TONS better and she is pretty much back to her happy self.
grandpa tickling mya after a hard days work. she loved glen. he even got her to go to sleep for him. they stayed home with mya from church and let trent and i go in peace. i can honestly say i have no idea what was taught or said. i didn't know what to do with myself. i have NEVER left mya for that long or with anybody but trent. i was pretty nervous at first but i knew she was in good hands. i wish they lived closer i would leave mya with them ALL the time :)
so the "real" reason trent's parents came out was to help us replace some exterior doors. we have had some major issues with these stinkin doors and it was time they go. i was pretty nervous but over all it went really well. i love my new doors because they have the blinds inside the glass, so mya can never ruin them, nor do i have to dust them!
we replaced two doors/door frames and the door in the picture we kept but replaced the door frame. this door is only 28" wide (def. not up to code) and we decided not to replace it because since it's not standard it would cost a FORTUNE and we didn't want to pay that. the door isn't in too bad of shape, the door frame on the other hand.....
trent drilled out the holes free hand, i was super impressed.
good thing it was like 75 degrees outside. we had huge holes in our house during the day. luckily they got each door done each day. if we were to do this in wyoming or utah we would have FROZE.
once they took the old double doors off upstairs they just threw them off the deck. our backyard looked like a wreck yard for the better part of a week. if you can believe it, it did look worse than this.
grandpa was so good with mya, he even took her while we ate dinner. i have forgotten what it was like to be able to eat a meal all at one time. thanks grandpa!
don't you just love her chubby cheeks!
grandma even tried her hand at feeding mya cereal. let me tell you this is no small task. she insists on helping and you both end up covered in cereal by the time it's over. i used to get frustrated but i quickly got over it and figured it will get better.
again, look at those cheeks. trent told me to take lots of pictures with her chubby cheeks because soon enough they will be gone. so......we have MILLIONS of pictures of her chubby cheeks.
sometimes we had to cover her ears while they pounded the doors. she didn't seem to mind.
while trents parents were here we had to let her cry it out at night which resulted in her being really tired and she just fell asleep in trents arms during breakfast one morning.
weenie and mya are going to be great pals, i just know it!
we had such a good time with trents parents here. we ate about 3 gallons of blue bell ice cream. drank TONS of soda. went out to dinner which included a MASSIVE explosion from mya right when my food came out. resulting in mya having to wear a newborn onesie because i haven't changed out my emergency outfit yet, ha. mya also started scooting/army crawling (which threw me for a loop) she hasn't even learned to sit up yet. we calculated that trent's mom has been here every 2-3 months since we moved to texas, so we are expecting our next visit sometime in january or february. we are so grateful that they could come spend some time with us and help us put in our doors. next on our list, the kitchen!!!!!!!! our new kitchen will arrive in 2 weeks and we plan to be completely done with the cabinets and floors by the new year, wow we better get working. speaking of working, trent is chiseling out the thinset in the kitchen as we speak!
