birthday weekend....

this yummy bbq place called the salt lick! this place is out in the middle of nowhere, takes only cash and only has like 4 things on the menu. but it was DELICIOUS! trent and i both got the combo plate which included brisket, sausage and ribs! it also came with coleslaw and potato salad. i don't normally like coleslaw but it was actually pretty good. after dinner we were off to...

home for cake! well ice cream cake!

trent made me my very own birthday ice cream cake. i love that i have a husband who can do anything and i mean ANYTHING. he is so incredible.

texas is famous for their blue bell ice cream and so as appropriate as it was i picked out the flavor birthday cake. it included vanilla ice cream, sprinkles and chocolate cake pieces. then trent made a buttery graham cracker crust and topped it off with more sprinkles (cause i love them!)

when we went to the car to go to dinner this was sitting on my seat, i'm not sure how trent knew i wanted a hanna montana bag, but i love it! also in that bag were reeces peanut butter cups, and a pink crown that lite up and oh yes best thing of all.....a trip to the day spa! i have never been and we actually have one right here in our apartment complex.

this was all on friday my actual birthday. saturday morning we woke up and trent made me oatmeal pancakes and bacon for breakfast and we just hung out all day. then sunday my texas friends through me a party and it was so much fun. it was so nice to be surrounded by friends and just relax. they had it all planned and had cookies and cupcakes and dip and even a pinata! it was lips and i got the first crack at it. i ended it up blindfolded and knocking it off the string, so we just hit it on the ground until someone just yanked it open. then we hung out and pretty much played rock band until about 12:30. i really appreciate what everyone did and just want to thank you all! i had one of the greatest birthdays and didn't even really think about turning 26. it's hard to believe i'm that old....until next year!

another year older....

today is my 26th birthday!

happy 25 day to me!!!!!!!!!! yesterday

my sweet co-workers made me a cake and turns out it was my favorite confetti cake. there are only three of us so we didn't eat much and so i brought it home and we ate a good chunk of it. thanks for the cake!

my best friend kim sent me these flowers to work and the lady even sang to me. it was the biggest surprise ever! i was so excited. she is the best ever. kim and i became friends at a basketball game in high school. (hope this doesn't embarass you to much) but i was kind of sitting on the bench close to kim and she was talking to a mutual friend-but i didn't know kim, she had just moved to my school. and all of the sudden she leans over and says that dan kid is really hott. and i started kind of chuckling and they both looked at me and i said that's my brother. kim and i have been friends since then and that was 8 years ago. even though she moved away 7 years ago we have been the best of friends. we usually trade off going to visit eachother each year but i'm the slacker friend. she came out for the wedding and i haven't seen her since. i'll come visit soon i promise! i miss ya girl i hope to see you real soon. love you.

isn't this the cutest picture. they just sat there for the longest time looking out the window. i think weenie told them to take watch so he could rest for a bit. weenie seriously sits and earnestly watches that window now and anytime he sees that guy he barks like crazy and growls. good thing i don't keep the door open anymore.

trent has been so busy this week with school and interviews that he has something planned for us tomorrow-update on that to follow, and so i decided to make enchiladas and salad for dinner and we had our friends over, and then had cake and ice cream. for some reason i have never made enchiladas before but they turned out great!

this is our friends (brit and trav) new addition to their family. they bought a house over the summer and in celebration of that got another puppy. Wriggles is the first and who weenie has played with for the last year and now Rhyno for the last few weeks. This is Rhyno's birthday kiss to me, don't worry he didn't bit me! (both dogs are pictured above)

Thank you to everybody who called or text me. it was a super day and i can't believe i am 25. for some reason i really freaked out about turning 25. i am not sure why this is such a big deal to me but i feel like 25 is a big deal and sounds so grown up. i have come to realize that i can't stay in my 20's forever like i thought and so now that i only have 5 more years here i am saddened. but at least trent is older than me so i will always be young to him. happy day to me!

i know my birthday has now fallen on a tragic day for the last seven years, but i am so proud of our country and the soldiers who fight for our freedom and safety everyday. i wish people would stop bashing bush for a day and realize that if we didn't go to war it would have continued to come here and even more states and people would be attacked. i am deeply sorry for those who have lost loved ones in the last seven years and even that day. i can't even imagine how that would be, but i want people to realize that our world is far from perfect and there will always be wars and terrible things that happen, but we need to come back to a unified country and at least try to stop some of it, but that can't come without cost. for those who have lost loved ones in the war, just have peace and know that you CAN see them again. they are not lost forever.
